I'm not a big fan of Max Landis. But I'm always opened to other peoples opinions and grateful to hear something that can help me in the
future. Recently Max had posted a v-log regarding Writer's Block and ways of getting over it. I think his point of view is rather
useful.
Here's a little recap. Max says that your brain is a kind of a computer that processes thoughts and ideas into a cohesive whole. In
order to do it proficiently it needs some time. The problem is that you don't want to accept the fact that you need time to process the
material and forge into something significant. In other words - people want to spurt a finished product the moment after its inception.
Which is rather stupid even if you don't think about it. Instead of letting it grow on you and evolve naturally you force it and it falls
back on tried and tested conventions and cliches which in turn turns your precious creation into a calculated middle-of-the-road MEH. The
desire to do everything at once leads to a certain fear of failing ones expectations. As time goes by it turns into a full stop - a
writer's block.
Max' solution to writer's block is rather simple - to relax and it flow. We've already covered this topic on this blog but I think you should check out Max' opinion.
Check it out.
